I am thrilled to finally be able to let you know that my latest book, Awaken the Kitten Within, is now with the publishers for printing – and available to pre-order from all the usual places.
Every book “takes a village” and in this case the village includes our wonderful designer Sue Campbell, Hay House editors for the Australian edition and my brilliant readers/editors Susan, Rebecca, Sarah and Marilyn who help pick up a variety of elements including vocab, Dharma, and accessibility to US readers for the Conch Books edition. Central to this book are my star agent Monica at DropCap agency and eager publishers in Paris, Munich, Rome, Prague and Tapei who have already snapped up the book for publication, along with a variety of others currently reading the manuscript. There’s also the team at Bolinda who publish the audio edition, and have always been so supportive of my work.
Most of all, dear readers, this book has only happened thanks to you. If you didn’t read my work and send me such delightful messages of encouragement, there wouldn’t be a fifth Dalai Lama’s Cat book. When I embarked on this journey I had no idea how widely HHC would resonate with people around the world – and not only English speakers. In 2011, when I was writing my first Dalai Lama’s Cat book, I certainly didn’t imagine that I’d find myself writing book number five in 2021.
The interesting thing is – and some of you have kindly mentioned this in your reviews – the books reflect my own Dharma journey. And writing Awaken the Kitten Within has been my most rewarding experience in that I’ve felt able to communicate what matters most of all. Just as I am “getting on” – so, too, are many of you, my readers. How do we manage the shock of finding ourselves growing older? How to deal with the deaths of loved ones – and indeed our own deaths – are subjects of increasing relevance. In my new book, I dive deep into Tibetan Buddhist teachings on these subjects, while also illuminating the fact that that living with a sense of life’s ephemeral nature, far from being a cause of depression, can propel us to a much more authentic and intensely-felt gratitude. This is especially true when we consider the opportunities we mostly take for granted which most other people can only dream about having.
The Dharma offers so much practical wisdom as well as hope on these vital matters, and in
Awaken the Kitten Within I have tried to share this as meaningfully as possible. Like the book series overall, the messages about awakening our inner kitten are presented playfully, but the fluffy packaging is wrapped around truly important and authentic teachings. I hope you find these as life-enhancing as I do.
The book will be published on Friday 5 November. To get your paws on it as soon as possible, pre-order it from the following:
