We have reached that fun part of the publishing process where we get to choose a cover of the new book! Once again, I’d like to ask for your help please!
Our wonderful book designer, Sue Campbell, has come up with five fantastic options for development. But which one is the winner? Rather than try to decide on my own, I’d like you, my readers, to please tell me which options you prefer and why. You’ll find a message box at the very end of this blog, below other people’s comments, where you add your thoughts. I apologize in advance for not being able to reply to every single message. But I can promise you I’ll be reading everything you say. Your feedback means everything to me.
As some of you may remember, we went through this exercise last year with my book The Astral Traveler’s Handbook & Other Tales, and I ended up with quite a different cover from the one I initially chose on my own. I listened to what the overwhelming majority of readers preferred.
PLEASE NOTE: These are not finished designs. They are rough cuts. There is no point spending time and money developing five cover designs when we can only use one. But each one of them gives enough of an idea to make an initial assessment, and that’s what I’m asking you to do.
In the message box, which you will find by scrolling to the bottom of the remarks so far, please let me know if you like the cover featured at the top of this blog, Number 1, the Temple Roof cover?
Or would you choose Number 2, with the prayer flags background?
Number 3 has His Holiness’s Cat (HHC) inside a temple, reaching out her fluffy, grey paw:
And Number 4 has HHC walking inside the temple:
Number 5 shows HHC walking across a vivid, multi-coloured mandala:
So much gorgeous imagery! However, only one can be chosen (unless I write another HHC book – which is not beyond the bounds of possibility!) Please let me know your preference, or if you like more than one design, your order of preference.
The Dalai Lama’s Cat and The Four Paws of Spiritual Success is to be published on 19 November 2019. In future weeks I’ll be sharing more about what’s in the book, and how you can pre-order it. If you don’t already subscribe to this blog and want to be kept updated, you can Subscribe at the top left of your screen, if you’re reading this on a desktop, or scroll down to the bottom, if you’re reading on a mobile device. I send out an article/update about once a month. I don’t bombard people with marketing rubbish – I treat my readers the way that I would like to be treated. Come to think of it, the way my much-loved cat likes to be treated, which is to say, not constantly harassed for attention, but disturbed only when there is a tantalizing treat on offer!
Now, dear readers, tell me which cover you like most of all!
