I’m thrilled to let you know that The Dalai Lama’s Cat Movie has taken a leap forward this month.  It’s been a while since I last blogged about the movie, simply because there wasn’t a whole lot to say.  By way of a quick refresher and update, this is where we are:

SCRIPT

We have a great script written by Jon Tilley.  The script is not a direct translation of The Dalai Lama’s Cat so much as an adaptation based on it.  Jon has done a wonderful job creating something that will appeal to a family audience – we’re looking at something with the reach of Paddington – while, at the same time, conveying the all-important messages of love and compassion woven throughout the novels.

DIRECTOR

We have a wonderful director in the form of Ben Gosling Fuller.  Ben has a strong background in comedic films which is exactly what we need to make sure that The Dalai Lama’s Cat movie has both adults and kids belly-laughing …  and receptive to the themes of the movie.

COMPUTER GENERATED IMAGE – TEASER

We now have funding to complete the next stage which is a short teaser trailer, using Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) of His Holiness’s Cat.  CGI is enormously expensive, and creating even just a minute of two of CGI footage is surprisingly costly.  While the people in the movie will be played by human actors, HHC will be a CGI cat.  A lot of work has already been done to create her in CGI format.  This month we received funding to complete the teaser – a necessary next step to give potential investors and distributors a flavour of the look and feel of the final movie.  We expect the teaser to be finished by the end of this Northern hemisphere summer.

NEXT UP: INVESTORS

Once we have the teaser made, we will be reaching out to whoever may be interested in help making The Dalai Lama’s Movie the big hit we all know it can be.  Our core executive production team at Amber Entertainment is extremely well connected (https://www.amberentertainment.com/) and will be leading the charge on this one.

I hope that next time I blog about The Dalai Lama’s Cat Movie, I will be able to remove the generic image at the top of these updates, and replace it with our first glimpse of the HHC, Snow Lion, Rinpoche, the star of The Dalai Lama’s Cat Movie!
